GarageDekho ("App", "we", "us") is operated by GarageDekho Automotive Solutions Private Limited. This policy explains what data we collect from users of the GarageDekho app, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
1. Information We Collect
Account and Profile
- Name and mobile phone number
- Email address (optional, if provided)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Vehicle details you add (make, model, registration number)
Location
- Precise GPS location while the app is in use - to find garages and mechanics near you
- Location during an active SOS request - to dispatch a mechanic to your position
- Saved addresses you add (home, office, etc.)
Bookings and Transactions
- Booking history (garage, service type, date, price)
- Payment information processed via Razorpay (we do not store card details)
- Wallet balance and transaction history
- Reviews and ratings you submit for garages
Device and Technical
- Device push notification token (to send booking updates and SOS alerts)
- App version and crash logs (for debugging)
2. How We Use Your Information
- To find and display verified garages and mechanics near your location
- To process service bookings and send confirmation notifications
- To dispatch a mechanic to your location during an SOS roadside request
- To process payments and maintain your wallet balance
- To send push notifications for booking status, SOS updates, and offers
- To display your reviews on garage profiles to help other users
- To improve our services, detect fraud, and ensure platform security
3. Location Data
Location is central to GarageDekho. Here is exactly when and why we use it:
- While browsing: your location is used to rank and display nearby garages
- During booking: your location or saved address is shared with the garage so they know where to expect you
- During SOS: your live GPS position is shared with the assigned mechanic so they can navigate to you
- We do not track your location in the background outside of an active SOS session
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your phone's Settings app
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as follows:
- With garages/mechanics: your name, phone number, and vehicle details are shared when you make a booking or SOS request so the garage can assist you
- With Supabase: our database and authentication provider (data stored in India/Singapore region)
- With Razorpay: payment processing for bookings and wallet top-ups (subject to Razorpay's privacy policy)
- With regulators: if required by Indian law (court order, tax authority, etc.)
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and booking data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, personal profile data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance as required by Indian law.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in encrypted Supabase databases. We do not store payment card details - all card data is handled exclusively by Razorpay. We recommend using a strong password and not sharing your OTP with anyone.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate profile information (via the app's Edit Profile screen)
- Request deletion of your account and associated data (via Settings > Delete Account)
- Withdraw location permission at any time via your phone's Settings
